Burgonet

Epic Armoury’s Polished Steel Burgonet is a protective helmet with a visor based on the historical helmet used in the 16th century by cavalry units. The visor is reinforced and shaped to fit comfortably around the face without constricting vision, framing a face protected by extended cheek guards. A crest runs along the top of the helmet from front to rear, acting as a deflector against strikes, while a curved neck-plate protects the back of the neck. When you require a little extra protection, this Burgonet is fashioned with a riveted metal bar that keeps the faceplate in place.

Secure the Burgonet helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel, top-grain vegetable-tanned leather straps, and steel buckles this armor piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armor care.

  • This helmet comes with a leather fitting and a loose foam band for internal adjusting
  • Available in Polished Steel and Epic Dark colors
  • Available in sizes S/M and L/XL

HISTORY

  • Plate armor became more popular as firearm technology became more prevalent during the 13th century
  • The Burgonet was the successor of the Sallet helmet
  • Burgonets were typically cheaper than closed-type helmets, and were lighter to wear
